Our Shop at 129B North Plaza In Taos New Mexico

Owners Otis and Neva Wilson are both native New Mexicans. Otis was born and raised in Santa Fe, and Neva was born near Mora. In the early years of their marriage while Otis worked on pipeline construction, and later as a salesman for Caterpiller Tractors they traveled extensively around the U.S., managing to spend some time in 43 of the lower 48 states. Eventually they settled in Tulsa, Oklahoma and lived there for over 20 years. Both of their children were born and raised in Tulsa. While in theTulsa area they worked as custom homebuilders before going into the business of Native American Arts and Crafts. During their stay in Oklahoma, they became familiar with Indian Artists from many of the tribes in that state.

Twenty four years ago they decided to come back home to New Mexico. But in the meantime Santa Fe had become a city so they decided to settle in Taos, which had the small town ambiance they felt at home with. The old Taos Plaza became the location for their two shops, the Western Heritage Gallery, and Six Directions. About Twelve years ago they merged the two shops into one, Six Directions.

Remembering Otie

Otis Wilson 1932 ~ 2007

Owner Otis Wilson passed away on June 26, this year after a long illness. Everyone who visited our store will remember Otie leaning on the counter to welcome visitors from everywhere. Otie enjoyed talking about his travels all over the US during his years in pipeline construction and later selling Caterpiller equipment. He especially loved to compare notes with people from areas that he once visited and seemed to remember every small town in 43 states. People visited our store year after year to catch up on personal news with Otie. This photo, taken in our old store next to La Fonda Hotel, was kindly sent to Neva by one of his fans.
